Wole Soyinka Showed His Prowess In “king Baabu”

It was an evening of fun, frenzy and lovely stage performances as some of the Nigerian Theatre group showcased their raw talents on stage at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, September 26.
The play titled “King Baabu” was well attended by friends, stage play lovers, fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
The short stage play which thrilled the audience for about two hours, is a parody about Africa’s past and present politician figures written by Professor Wole Soyinka.
A naked satire on the rule of late General Sani Abacha in Nigeria, the play accounts the corrupt and wicked rule of General Basha Bash who takes power in a coup and exchanges his general’s uniform for a robe and crown re-christening himself as King Baabu.
The play was directed by Toyin Oshinnaike and stars Torisejuju Ejoh who played the lead cast “King Baabu”, Tessy Brown acted as Baabu’s wife, OlaRotimi Fakunle, Seun Kentebe, Abiodun Kassim, Emmanuel Nwaodu, Kevin Umweni, Ajibola Fasola, Femi Durojaiye among others.
