Make-Up- How to make it last longer on your face

Makeup tips
A lot of we ladies spend quality time trying to have a beautiful makeover and flawless look, but how many of us can actually have that fabulous look all through the day without having to touch up your face? Well I’m pretty sure just a few of us have the luxury of flawless makeovers that lasts all through the day.
There are several factors that get in the way of your glam and we will be discussing a couple of them so we can get educated on how to stop the smearing sliding and patchy makeovers.

Oily Face:
A good number of us have oily skin especially on the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) section of the face and this makes your makeover smear easily and get patchy before the end of the day. To help this condition, all you need is a facial primer.
PrimersMost decent makeup brands will have a primer in their makeup range. A primer will help to smooth out your skin, tone down un-even patches and control the oil on your face and most importantly, it will make the foundation or makeup you put on last all day. Most primers have a silica base to them which means they soften and smooth the surface of the skin, allowing foundation and makeup to sit on top without looking like it’s settling in your pores.
primmilkHomemade Primer- Milk of magnesia could do wonders on the face. I’m sure we are all know it for easing cramps or heartburn but guess? It works as a primer to keep your makeup shine free. It keeps the face really dry and tight for hours. This is especially good for ladies with oily skin. To apply, wash your face first and then apply a little amount of the milk of magnesia on a cotton wool or foundation brush and massage into face especially the T-Zone. This area is usually very sweaty and oily. Wait a little while for your face to get white and then you apply your foundation.
Dead skin cells:
Make-up needs something to adhere to which is your skin, but if it’s covered in dead skin cells and clogged pores, then there wouldn’t be any space for your make-up.
Exfoliate- To get rid of dead skin cells getting in the way, you will need a good exfoliation a few times each week. It will slough off all the icky stuff, leaving you with a clean complexion ready for your make-up. There are several products for exfoliation and you can also make a homemade facial scrub.
Applying eye make-up last:
People find it odd when I go straight into my eye makeup after applying my primer. But it makes perfect sense! If you do the skin before the eyes, you will most likely lean all over the face and wipe off concealer and foundation while applying the eyeshadow.
Use primer for skin first and then go straight into brows and eyes. Then you can just wipe away any eyeshadow “fall out” with a small fluffy brush or a cotton pad with some remover on without affecting your base. It’s much easier this way! It’s also worth mentioning that you need a separate eyeshadow primer as it will hold your colour on. You can find some amazing ones on the market.
Concealer before foundation:
Most people I know tend to do their concealer before foundation. But think about it, once you have applied the concealer under the eye or on any problem areas, then you go over with either a brush or your hands, you virtually wipe away all your concealing work! Do the skin first then use a small blending brush to apply the concealer where needed. You can use your finger to tap the concealer in to blend and this way your coverage is going to last and look more professional.
Using substandard make up:
Substandard products tend to wash off your face easily. Long wear products may be a little expensive to get but are ideal for days when you want to keep your look in place for many hours.  Mineral based products are also a great choice as they adhere to your skin and are less likely to slide off as the day goes on.
Matte product- They stay in place better than others. Experiment with your options to find the one that you like best. The most common and my most favourite long wear products are matte lipsticks, but if you look, you can likely find others that are formulated to last for many hours. Using them gives you the look you love without having to do constant touch-ups throughout the day.
Excess powder:
powderToo much powder can dull the skin and look very cakey. It is advisable to stick to either translucent powders or very natural powders. Apply with a large fluffy brush and “press” the product on as opposed to wiping it on in big circular motions. Also only powder where it is needed – if you want a “glowy” makeup, just apply powder to the T-Zone (forehead nose and chin). The powder does set the makeup but you don’t want to take away all the nice work of the foundation! Texture in skin is normal. It’s nice to see parts of the skin with a glow and other parts matte.
